In a dialectic movement between faith and life, we feel interpelated to move in this direction with audacity, sensible to the pain of the migrants, in order to reconfirm the exact pastoral choice of the Blessed Founder John Baptist Scalabrini in a world still governed by unjust laws and oppressive powers. Today’s challenge is to draw close to the new migrations, looking at its causes and allowing ourselves to be asked, whether our witnesses should not be more of denouncement of the social injustices and of the denial of the human rights. To respond more efficaciously to this challenge, we understand the value of internationality as a possibility for communion among differences, but in a way which must go toward interaction among cultures, in this manner allow all cultures to be visible. We intend, with this, to encourage the interprovincial, inter-congregational collaboration and with the LSM, not merely as strategy for the mission but as an exigency which comes from God. Together we must place ourselves to listen to God and the sign of the times, with a greater perception of what happens in our contemporary history. It is necessary the gift of the Spirit to be able to fulfill our prophetic mission as evangelizers in a trustworthy and efficient manner. Father Joseph Marchetti is the model of this: “Go to God in prayer … to learn from God what we must do in each situation…



We live in a globalized world, with intense human mobility, 232 million (cf. UN, 2013), which points to great changes. Today’s social, political, economic, multicultural, religious, of natural catastrophes and accelerated technological revolutions generate diversifi ed and complex migration currents which produces new migration faces. In this scenario discrimination, racism, xenophobia, crime and traffi cking of persons increase. This reality challenges us to give a missionary and prophetic pastoral response which qualifi es our practices in the diverse initiatives of been with and for the migrants. This gives rise to the reorganization of the life of our Congregation in view of a more integrated action in the care of the faith and in the defense of the rights of the migrants and refugees. Our presence in the environments in which human life is placed in the frontiers and crossroads of life, in the world of migration, promotes a “Samaritan” intercultural Church for every woman and man on the move. In this sense the migrant is the theological place of the scalabrinian mission, participates of the paschal mystery, for which the death and resurrection leans towards the creation of a new humanity, in which there is no more slave or stranger (EMCC, 18).
